| Just a public comment to thank Rotorua G.C. for the absolutely superb effort during last weeks Oceania Sporting event. To say it was a success would be an understatement, it would have to rate as one of the best Sporting shoots N.Z. has ever hosted. 171 shooters lined up for 8 old style FITASC Parcour’s with targets ranging from 3 metres to 60-70+ and not one flying straight or level. A sporting purists dream. New club house extensions, you could smell the fresh paint, new bar and kitchen and a large new deck out front, an absolute credit to Geoff x 2, Tony, Lindsay and Kersty, Mike and son Wayne and John B. Tony Truss’s hand scroll written scoreboard typical of the attention to detail this shoot was about.
A special thanks to Ray McFarlane (FITASC Vice President) who came over a few days early and helped Geoff, Rob Currathers and myself with the final target settings (the Club members had done all the hard work and had traps on every hillside and in every gully all over the place) it was a real pleasure to work with Ray, he has forgotten more than we have ever learnt, and his little subtleties with traps and menu settings was a great lesson for us for the future. It made my week.
Not one aspect of the event from food, bar, shelter, seating, targets and signage could be faulted. I think the Aussies arrived thinking they knew how to run a good event and left, winners Oh yes!!, but thinking they had to play catch up to top this shoot next year in South Australia.
